The trauma of being involved in a car collision is bad enough, but all
too often people are victimized a second time when trying to find a reliable
collision repair specialist.
Fortunately, Havasu residents and visitors know a dependable and honest
company that will service all their post-collision needs from start to finish –
Don’s Auto Body. Since 1980, Don Underwood has been a respected name in auto body work in
Lake Havasu City. Eight employees, including sons Chad and Scott, can service any and all
collision repair work.
Don’s Auto Body has four auto refinishing technicians who have been trained
at the DuPont Refinishing School and the I-CAR (Independent Certification
of Auto Repair) School. Also, the company is a charter member of the Automobile Service Association
of Arizona (ASA) in Mohave County. To make life even easier for its clients, Don’s Auto Body is
a direct repair facility. That means
that in addition to body work, the company also can handle all of the insurance
claim paperwork for clients who hold policies from most major insurance
companies. “I can handle their claims from start to finish, from the
accident to picking up their repaired car,” said Don. “All it takes is one simple phone call to get
things moving.” Don’s Auto Body has been meeting collision repair needs for 25
years, so permanent residents and snowbirds take comfort in knowing that
they’re dealing with an established business that will be here long after the
work is done. Don’s wife, Sue, is also a
familiar face with residents and visitors.
As owner of Sue’s Beauty Nook, Sue and her staff have serviced men’s and
women’s hair styling needs for over fourteen years. The auto body specialist calls himself “retired with a job” who “uses the heck out of the lake” and the desert terrain. But life wasn’t always so good. Don remembered when he moved his family to Havasu in 1979, and the McCulloch plant was operating at is peak. Six months later, the plant moved the bulk of its production to Tucson; suddenly Don was almost out of a job and Sue was working at McDonald’s. “We struggled in those early days,” he reminisced, “but I’m proud that we stuck out the hard and lean years.” Don has lived in Lake Havasu City for longer than anywhere else in his life, including his hometown of St.
Joe, Missouri. It’s the people here that have made his
business flourish. “The people in Lake Havasu have been overwhelmingly good to me and my family and I owe a lot
to them,” said Don. “They’ve made me as large as I
am. Thant’s why I like to give back to
the community as much as I can and I want to make sure that my customers get a
fair deal.” |
